The heart, arguably the most important organ in our bodies, is the engine that pumps blood throughout our bodies and works with other organs to regulate heart rate and blood pressure. A fist-sized organ, the average heart beats over 100,00 times a day and pumps 1.5 gallons of blood a minute. But the heart is so much more, an iconic and anatomically incorrect depicted symbol of our emotional center, celebrated in art, literature, and music. In ancient Greek mythology, the heart is depicted as a vase with handles, or arms, to represent the core of our life force. No matter how we see it, the heart is a vital organ to celebrate this February during Heart Health Month, and to take care of, physically and emotionally. We wish all of our RMG patients and friends a heart-healthy month ahead.
In good health,
RMG
