Pediatric care is medical care specifically for babies, children, and teenagers, generally from birth through about age 18 (sometimes into the early 20s). It includes preventive and medical services such as regular checkups and growth monitoring, vaccinations, treatment of illnesses and injuries, developmental and behavioral assessments, nutrition guidance, and management of chronic conditions such as asthma or diabetes. A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in this type of care. Pediatric care focuses not only on treating illness but also on supporting a child’s physical, emotional, and developmental health as they grow.
